Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is a non-surgical treatment, that works by having concentrated beams of light target the hair follicles to stop future hair growth. Unlike other hair removal methods such as waxing, epilating and shaving which offer only a temporary solution, laser treatment offers a long-term solution with lasting results for ALL

skin types.

Is my skin type suitable for treatment?

With Motus AY we can treat ALL skin types safely and virtually pain free.

The cumulative laser emission allows to deliver an amount of energy at lower power pulses, leading to hairs destruction in a way that is totally painless for the patient and free from side-effects like burning or discolouring, also in darker skin types.

Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale

You will need to book a consultation at our Birmingham-based laser clinic. The consultation is designed to allow us to assess your needs, advise you of our expectations and make our recommendations for laser treatment. During the laser consultation the procedure will be explained. You will be required to fill in a consultation form disclosing full medical history.

At eSKIN you will required to have a consultation with our Laser Practitioner where your hair colour and skin type will be identified, you will be asked for a consent form to be signed and photos will be taken for before and after comparisons.

We always do a patch test  before starting laser hair removal treatment. This allows us to adjust the settings to your skin colour, hair colour and the density of the hair. This is to ensure that your skin reacts to the laser in the predicted way. Additionally, we will discuss any concerns you may have and will answer all your questions. We recommend your patch test takes place a minimum of one week before your treatment.

Fair hair contains less melanin and is a little harder to treat so we would always recommend a consultation before any sessions start to assess what kind of results the client can expect, and it will also give our laser specialists the opportunity to see if the client will be happy with results.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

Laser pulses directly target existing hair, creating heat energy into the hair follicles that prevent future growth. With the Motus AY the laser achieves maximum absorption into hair follicles and fast coverage of large areas, which minimise the sensation of heat especially when in pain-free mode.

Are there any side effects of laser hair removal treatment?

The appearance of the treated area following laser treatment varies from patient to patient, depending on the characteristics of the patient and treatment given. A few weeks after laser hair removal, hairs will shed from the follicle. Transient redness and swelling around the hair follicle may appear immediately after the treatment, this in fact displays to us a positive result indicating the follicle’s response to the treatment.

Hair Removal for PCOS

PCOS sufferers can achieve excellent results from laser hair removal treatment, and it can significantly improve their self-confidence. Although the results can be successful, and often life changing, there is no cure, and you may need to continue to have the treatments on a regular basis to maintain a reduction in hair growth.
